Stripe Connect & payouts
BuPay processes every payment through Stripe Connect. Member payments are routed to your organisation's connected Stripe account, minus platform and Stripe fees, and paid out to your bank on Stripe's standard payout schedule. Nothing can be collected until the connection is complete.
Why Stripe is required
Stripe handles the payment processing, identity verification and bank payouts behind BuPay. Until your organisation has a connected Stripe account, no money can be collected.
Connecting happens on Stripe, not BuPay
The dashboard's setup card starts the connection, and the onboarding itself happens on Stripe's secure hosted pages, where you enter your personal and bank details.
The details you enter must match the bank account holder, or Stripe's verification will fail.
Payouts run on Stripe's schedule
Once verified, member payments are sent to your connected account and paid out to your bank on Stripe's standard payout schedule.
