Stripe handles payment processing, identity checks and bank payouts. Your organisation needs a connected Stripe account before members' payments can be taken.
You connect on Stripe
Start from Payouts, the last part of setup (business type → before you start → name and contact → review and agree), or from the resume banner on the dashboard. Name and contact only appears for sole proprietors and unincorporated groups. Identity and bank details are entered on Stripe's secure pages.

A club or team without legal status picks "Sole proprietor / unincorporated group", and its representative (a coach, captain or treasurer) opens the account on the group's behalf. No business registration is needed. Opening it means agreeing to the terms (including the payment collection and agency clauses) and confirming that the money is for the group and won't be used to repay personal advances or settle up between individuals.
Business description and website
Stripe asks you to describe what you do in your own words (20–500 characters), and uses your club website's URL as the website. That's why setup publishes the website first.
Creating your club websiteMembers can join before you're connected
Members can join and charges can be issued before Stripe is ready. Until then, a member who tries to pay sees that payments aren't ready yet. Once the account is ready, unpaid charges of members on autopay are collected automatically.
Payouts on Stripe's schedule
Once verified, members' payments reach your connected account and are paid out to your bank on Stripe's usual schedule.
What you receive
If members pay the system usage fee, you receive the full charge amount. If the organisation pays it, you receive the amount less the fee. Stripe's processing fee is included in the system usage fee.
